April Happenings – Quarantine Edition

April was spent almost entirely at home due to the Coronavirus pandemic. We tried to make the best of it.

Of course we started April off with April Fool’s day.  We had a tiger in the house!

We celebrated communion at home and watched church online.

And we continued our work and school from home

The kids wanted to do some baking so they made muffins and the boys started cooking eggs all by themselves in the mornings.

IMG_3813

We had lots of outdoor reading time.

IMG_3944IMG_3945

And outdoor lunch time (in a tree).

IMG_3933

We were careful to practice social distancing with our friends.

IMG_2718

We did a fun Disneyland puzzle.

IMG_3803IMG_2587

We did lots of Peloton workouts.

IMG_2737

The work dress code was pretty relaxed.

IMG_3925

One evening we went to watch the sunset and supermoon.  The sunset was great.

IMG_3849IMG_3851

Some low clouds obscured the view of the moon.  Henry had been learning about weather and said it was “partly moony.”

IMG_3856

We put the tent up in the backyard but ended up not sleeping in it 🙂

We had a great Easter weekend at home.  The forecast was for rain but it was actually really great weather for most of the weekend. We enjoyed some time in the front yard.

IMG_3879IMG_3880

Look at the pretty flowers! (and the pretty kids)

IMG_3884

And the pretty dog.

IMG_3886

It was a little rainy Sunday morning but that didn’t stop us from hunting for eggs.

IMG_3919

Henry tried to run up the wet slide and all his eggs spilled.  Nothing like a little Easter drama.

IMG_3916

Back inside with a pretty good candy haul.

IMG_3922

Afterwards we did resurrection rolls then got dressed up for church (online) and took some family pictures.

The kids colored while we watched church.

IMG_2714

In the afternoon we did some hammocking.  All of the kids are inside these hammocks in this picture.

IMG_2585IMG_2729

I dug out some compost for the garden.

IMG_2731IMG_2733

And one Sunday afternoon we took a trip to Sonic for our first family outing during the pandemic.

IMG_2745

And we did some more hammocking and enjoyed the spring weather.

IMG_2748IMG_2750

The kids did some great dance performances and photo shoots.

IMG_2744

We really tried to focus on eating healthy while we were at home. The boys stopped eating gluten and this is what our fridge looked like after an HEB grocery pickup order.

IMG_3943

All that food turned in to some pretty yummy meals.

IMG_4044IMG_2719IMG_2720

We also enjoyed some treats by this nice lady in her ice-cream truck. She comes every Friday to our neighborhood and the kids take of running when they hear the music.

IMG_3954IMG_3962

And we had our first ever predator in the chicken coop.  Of course it had to get Rebel, our white leghorn, who laid 1-2 eggs per day.  We started shutting the coop at night again.

IMG_3957

We thought about going up to Angel Fire but Jennifer’s back was hurting really bad, so I took the kids to Canyon for the weekend to celebrate Anne’s birthday.

Nana turned the barn into a skating rink.

IMG_2756

Nathan learned to play chess (and also checkers with a chess set).

IMG_2767

Mama Jo enjoyed seeing her great grandbabies.

IMG_4368

The kids cleaned out the barn and decorated for a celebration for Aunt Anne.

IMG_2775

And we surprised Hannah with a birthday party for her! She decorated for her own party.

IMG_2780IMG_2782IMG_2783

Hannah said her most prized gift was the toilet paper.

IMG_2784

They played limbo.

IMG_2796

Had a cousin sleepover in the basement.

IMG_4372

We went out to the the cemetery.

IMG_2805

It was a quick trip but it was nice to get out of the house and let the kids play with someone else. Mama Jo rode home with us and I took her back to her house. She was glad to be home.

IMG_2809

While we were gone, Mommy made us some masks just in case.

IMG_3989

The kids liked this train game that we got in Canyon.

IMG_3990

That’s pretty much a wrap for April.  No baseball, no school, no normal.  As I write this, some restaurants are beginning to open at 25% and we are starting to ease out of quarantine.
